Testimonials"I showered today. This is nothing new: I shower at least once a day, if not twice. But Igot to use the soap I bought from Althaea for the first time, and boy was I happy. I haven't even found a body wash that didn't leave my skin starving for moisture, until now. I have a birth defect, a skin condition called Ichthyosis. Pretty much, that translates to scaly skin or fish skin. If you think you have dry skin, come see mine. After using the mildest soap/wash/whatever I can find, I then douse myself with baby oil, and within an hour my skin is dry and peeling again. The kind where you can write on it with a nail. It itches like crazy 24/7 and if I don't lotion it every hour or so, it is painfully tight. Most of the dermatologists I and my family have consulted(my mom and son and grandpa have it too) have never actually seen a case. Basically, we have an extra layer of epidermis, so the oil glands don't go all the way through the skin everywhere. Naturally, my oil glands seem to be on my face, which is why I have acne at 33. Anyway, I have been like this all my life, and my family has tried everything we can think of. One doctor said to try camel urine, but thankfully that is hard to find. So when Althaea described the soap she makes for her husband, I had to try it. And it does seem to work. I noticed during the shower that it didn't leave that tight feeling in my skin when I rinsed, and it didn't feel as itchy. Of course I oiled up like normal, but it's over an hour later, and I haven't had to lotion yet. I'm not saying this soap, "Mister X's Angry Skin Soap" is a panacaea, but I am going to see if I can buy some for my mom for Mother's Day. "I got my soap from althaea yesterday. Since my skin tends to the dry side, I opted for a few bars of "MisterX's Angry Skin Soap" on Althaea's recommendation. The bars were just made earlier this week and are supposed to "age" for 2 or 3 weeks to achieve optimal quality before being used. However, they're perfectly usable right now and I couldn't wait to try it out. Since I have a few bars, I thought I'd let some of them age and go ahead and jump the gun on trying a bar, even if it is a little premature. I am so glad I didn't wait -- I love this soap. My skin feels better than it ever has felt in a long time. I even washed my face with it and it feels great. I never would have thought that a guy would get this excited over soap. But, here I am, loving my new soap. I was a little wary when I noticed that the ingredients included coconut. Frequent readers of my blog know that I'm no fan of coconut. I'm happy to report that the predominant smell of this soap is not coconut. In fact, I can't pick out a distinct coconut scent at all. Perhaps the scent is blending with other scents and is disguised. Perhaps it's simply overpowered by the other scents. Whatever the case, I'm glad my soap doesn't smell like coconut. And if there are wonderful skin-healing powers in the coconut, this soap is the perfect delivery system for it -- I can get the benefits without having to smell it. "Being the "older woman that I am" I have never found a soap that makes me feel as good when I get out of the shower as when I'm in the shower. " I have PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome - and one of the symptoms of this disorder is a reduction of estrogen in my system. As a result, I have very dry, scaly skin that constantly seems rough and uneven. "I think I am in love. I had been using the Angry Skin soap on my hands and various places where I will show a reaction first and after 48 hours had no reaction. It is WONDERFUL!!!!! my skin has not felt this good in more years that I can remember. After one good scrubbing of my face, the skin shows some small signs of improvement, and the best thing is that it doesn't feel tight and so very dry. I am really lookng forward to trying the Honeyed Amber. I wonder if it will do as well. "They got here yesterday, as indicated in your note I'm setting the Nag Champa out todry a little, but we tried the Angry Skin soap last night. Initial report, my husband loves it. He loved the scent and the amount of lather. He says he hates the way most soaps make his skin feel weird and skeaky, but he said this just leaves his skin perfect and soft. This is really good news because when he doesn't like a bar soap he switches back to liquid which makes his skin both dry and broken out. I like it too, but my skin needs so much help I think the real test will be over the next two weeks. "I've been using the ginger soap- the spicy scent really wakes me up in the morning! The two that I find too scented are the althea's herb garden and the lavender/chamomile soap... I had thought that these two might be a bit too strong, but I was hoping that scince it's all natural ingredients I'd be fine (I'm far more sensitive to synthetic smells). "Melanie, I was just looking at my hands, and it made me think to write you. They are so smooth and soft, and I haven't used lotion anytime recently. I have for the last 10 years or so suffered with very dry skin and have been limited to mostly using baby soaps that are liquid to wash with.
