Nowadays, you can find good glycerine melt-and-pour bases that contain real saponified oils and aren't just detergent cocktails. However, it's still just a pre-fab product that you melt down, decorate and scent as you like, and then re-sell as "homemade". Homemade glycerine soap is to real soap what cake from a mix is to cake from true scratch - they are both "cake", but the end product is decidedly different.
